Safety in Cycling

Being safe and visible on the roads is easier and more convenient when you’re inside a vehicle, but when you’re on two wheels, everything becomes more complicated and inherently dangerous if the proper precautions are not taken. It’s paramount that you’re visible to all road users when cycling, whether you’re riding on the road or along the pavement; this holds extra weight throughout the wintery months.

There are several factors that can help to increase your road safety as well as your visibility whilst cycling; whether that’s mounted lights or high visibility jackets and reflective straps, Techalogic is focused on keeping you safe.

Being Seen

A cyclist’s most valuable tool when it comes to road safety is a cycle light, both front and rear. If you’re going to ride in the dark, you’ll need a light that indicates to other road users where you are but to also help guide you on your own journey. However, before committing to buying cycle lights, there’s a number of factors to first consider:

Buying Cycle Lights

Whether you ride to commute or for pleasure, it’s important that any cycle light you’re considering fits to your needs. The faster you ride, the more powerful light you will require. The average cyclist can reach around 12-18 mph on an open road, so a light with at least 200+ lumen LED light is necessary to remain visible.

Depending on your journey, you will need to make sure that the battery power of your light is capable to get you where you need to be. Purchasing a light with a long-lasting battery life will provide you with the time to enjoy longer cycle rides without compromising your safety. Not to mention, the fluctuating patterns of the British weather adds another complication to this – it’s essential that you purchase a light that can withstand the wet weather.

Our latest model, the CF-1 Front Cycle Light provides you with a bright 400 lumen LED light, that also comes equipped with multiple light modes, depending on your journey. This light also provides a sense of comfort, knowing that it has up to 4 hours of battery life with the light on.

Techalogic’s philosophy is to create tech products that just make sense, so it was important that our latest model was also built to withstand any weather with its compact yet robust design. The CF-1 front light is strong, water-resistant for any weather and remains extremely durable.

While the CF-1 front light will help to guide you on your journey, it’s crucial that you combine this with a rear cycle light for maximum safety. The CR-1 Rear Cycle Light provides you with an additional 60 lumens and 6 light modes to ensure you are seen from behind, supplying you with essential safety. Our rear cycle light also comes completely weatherproof too.

Seeing Others

Cyclists are not the only road users and it’s up to the rider to make sure that they’re aware of their surroundings to prevent any accidents whilst also ensuring their own safety. The most effective way to safeguard all road users, in particular cyclists, is to use a camera.

Buying Cameras

As we’re dedicated to bringing safety-related technology and innovations to the UK, our previously mentioned CF-1 Front Cycle Light and the CR-1 Rear Cycle Light both also come equipped with a fully integrated HD 1080p wide angle camera built into their respective lights. Each light will provide you with over 7 hours of recording with the LED light off with high quality footage, both day and night.

The CR-1 Rear Cycle Light is also fitted with a sensor to automatically save any footage in the event of an accident. Whilst our mounted cycle light cameras will provide you with the utmost sense of security and safety, these cameras only tell half of the story of your ride.

Helmet Cameras

Your safety as a cyclist is not just limited to the road itself; if you’ve been involved in an accident, matters may be settled off the road. To help other road users see what you see, it’ll be invaluable to supply any footage that you may have from your perspective to help ensure your safety.

Our DC-1 Dual Lens Helmet Camera is a unique patented design, equipped with both front and rear lenses with a 140-degree field of view. This camera can be fitted to any helmet or riding hat, as it comes equipped with its own mount. The lightweight design will sit comfortably on your helmet without compromising your balance or ergonomic riding style, weighing in at only 104g.

The DC-1 Dual Lens Helmet Camera is a practical piece of equipment, also providing you with full HD 1080p quality footage and a long-lasting battery life of over 2.5 hours. As well as the camera being weatherproof, the DC-1 Dual Lens Helmet Camera has a built-in SONY Starvis IMX307 Sensor for excellent night time video quality, ensuring your safety no matter the time of day.

If you’re a cyclist on a budget but not willing to compromise your safety, then our XV-1 2K QHD Helmet Camera is the perfect option. The front facing camera gives you the best possible quality at a reasonable price, providing you a *****degree field of view and over ***** battery life, ensuring your safety and security for those longer rides.
